Big Epic Knitting Fail

It happened more than a week ago. I am not quite over it yet. It really hurts.

The raspberry jumper – which was supposed to be a loose fitting drapey jumper - shrunk.

I finished it. Tried it on. Perfect.

Just need a light blocking. Soak it. Then decide to spin it on the lowest cycle (like I often do with knits) before blocking it.

BIG mistake. It felted. Now it’s not loose and drapey and lovely. It’s stiff and tight.
Crying and cursing. Argh!

I can still wear it – and wore it at a Christmas Concert a few days ago. But it is not what I dreamt of.

Lesson Learned: Do not try anything on finished garment, that you haven’t done to the swatch.

Also: Manos Del Uruguay Silk Blend: Bleed a lot (it really faded from the 5 minute soak) and is prone to felting. Now you know…

so sad so sad.

oh nooooo! I made a shrug from a single spun yarn and I’m very carefull with it, since it started to felt just by knitting it!
